About The Position

Join one of Kerry’s most innovative technical teams, supporting the development of advanced meat seasoning systems, red meat processing technologies, and coating solutions for poultry and meat products. This role combines strong meat science expertise with hands-on application work, supporting both internal R&D and customer-facing projects across Canada and North America. You will play a key role in bringing technical solutions to life—from concept through commercialization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Meat Science, Food Science, Animal Science, Food Technology, or related field.
  • 1–3+ years of hands-on experience in meat processing, meat science, coating/breading systems, or food applications R&D.
  • Experience in pilot plants or food processing environments strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute benchtop and pilot-scale trials for red meat and poultry applications, including marination, injection, tumbling, grinding, forming, thermal processing, and coating application.
  • Develop and evaluate seasoning systems, marinades, functional blends, predusts, batters, and breaders.
  • Optimize formulations based on customer requirements, processing conditions, and performance targets.
  • Conduct sensory, functional, and physical testing (yield, texture, color, adhesion, cook performance).
  • Document trials, results, and insights through clear reports and summaries.
  • Analyze data and troubleshoot formulation or processing challenges.
  • Provide science-based recommendations to internal teams and customers.
  • Operate processing and coating equipment such as injectors, tumblers, grinders, mixers, formers, fryers, ovens, and coating lines.
  • Maintain pilot plant readiness: ingredient inventory, equipment setup, sanitation.
  • Support scale-up and commercialization efforts.
  • Partner with R&D, Sales, and Marketing to support innovation initiatives and customer projects.
  • Participate in customer visits, technical demonstrations, and troubleshooting sessions.
  • Provide expert insights on meat processing technologies, coating system performance, and formulation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Maintain clean, organized lab and pilot plant environments.
  • Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory updates.
