We are seeking a Scientist to support the Vaccine Immunology Program (VIP) to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Gaithersburg, MD. Perform common laboratory duties such as reagent ordering, instrument care, and inventory maintenance. Locate and review literature pertinent to projects and identify/modify the most applicable protocols and methods for experiments. Contribute to the development of new single-cell next-generation sequencing analyses and workflows. Establish and optimize flow cytometry panels for sorting immune cell populations of interest. Isolate and stain lymphocytes from blood or tissue for flow cytometry. Manage scientific equipment and resources, including acquisition, documentation, and storage, for items such as reagents, stocks of frozen cells, animal samples, etc. Participate in project and laboratory meetings. Troubleshoot assays and adjust scientific methodology to correct problems or deficiencies in a research project, experiment, or trial. Develop and maintain collegial, collaborative relationships with colleagues in the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) research groups.
