The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in lab animal science, regulatory compliance, communication skills, and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or AALAS certification
  • 1-3 years of direct experience in lab animal science preferred (minimum 5 years required)
  • Experience with large and/or small animal species
  • AALAS Accreditation required if personnel do not hold associates degree
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and agencies (USDA, OLAW, FDA, AAALAC).
  • Knowledge of animal care and use and regulatory expectations.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Self-directed individual with the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment with limited direction, competing priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to interact with team members, clients, vendors and other third parties.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across various disciplines to ensure alignment.
  • Ability to use digital communication tools (video conferencing, chat platforms etc.)
  • Full-time on-site presence at our Discovery Labs location.

  • Ability to work in environments with varying light conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform routine procedures in small and/or large animal species while maintaining strict adherence to USDA, FDA, DEA, and institutional (IACUC) guidelines and protocols.
  • Perform basic sedation and recovery, blood collection, standard IV dosing, body weights, vitals, blood processing and sample shipment: veterinary treatments.
  • Perform rodent colony management tasks such as genotyping, tagging, and weaning.
  • Perform administrative tasks including but not limited to expiration checks, scanning data, filing records, and prepping blood tubes and eppendorfs for sample collection.
  • Document all procedures appropriately in accordance with Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 58, which governs the conduct of nonclinical laboratory studies.
  • Capture data electronically in a 21 CFR, Part 58 compliant electronic data management system for GLP and MED studies.
  • Participate in occupational health and safety programs, including TB testing and any required immunizations.
  • Adhere to all biosafety, chemical safety, and animal welfare guidelines.
