We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Scientist for our In Vivo Pharmacology Operations. In this role you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of in vivo pharmacology studies — from design and protocol development through execution, analysis, and interpretation — to support the progression of our therapeutic programs. This role demands a solid understanding of in vivo research methodologies and the ability to operate in a complex, fast-moving research environment.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in biological sciences with a minimum of 3-5 years (Scientist) and 6+ years (Sr. Scientist) of industry experience in a drug discovery and development setting
  • Extensive expertise with all aspects of in vivo rodent research (various dosing routes, anesthesia, surgical procedures, necropsy, tissue processing, etc.) in both mice and rats
  • Strong commitment to animal welfare and a 3Rs-centered approach to experimental design
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external CRO partners
  • Exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrate creative thinking and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset; able to design, troubleshoot, and refine complex in vivo studies with resourcefulness and innovation
  • High-level problem-solving ability with strong analytical thinking and the capacity to make practical, data-driven decisions
  • Hands-on experience with molecular and cell biology techniques (RNA/DNA extraction, PCR, Western blot, ELISA, and small molecule/biologic assays)
  • Willingness and ability to work in a lab/vivarium environment for the majority of working hours, including supporting weekend study needs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working across diverse therapeutic modalities, including small molecules, biotherapeutics, nucleic acid therapeutics, and gene therapy is highly desirable
  • Experience analyzing age-related diseases/deficits in animal models, including fibrosis, inflammation, metabolic disorders or neurodegeneration

Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of in vivo pharmacology studies across multiple projects — providing in vivo pharmacology and physiology expertise from study design and model selection through dosing and in-life monitoring, tissue collection and processing, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results to program teams
  • Contribute to selection of pharmacodynamic and target-engagement readouts
  • Contribute to building translational strategy by leveraging in vivo research for target validation and candidate progression
  • Develop, characterize, and implement new animal models; including models of fibrosis and other age-related pathologies
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies, platforms, and best practices for in vivo research to enhance study efficiency and quality
  • Execute studies in both mice and rats, including conducting survival surgeries to establish rodent models using aseptic technique
  • Occasionally execute downstream ex vivo analyses
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all studies in the electronic lab notebook to ensure data integrity and traceability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners across discovery biology, pharmacology and assay sciences, DMPK, and technology development to advance therapeutic programs
  • Ensure all in vivo work meets IACUC-approved protocols and uphold the highest ethical standards in study conduct
  • Contribute to a team culture that promotes continuous improvement, ownership, professional growth, and inclusion

Benefits

  • The salary range for Redwood City, CA Scientist II, In Vivo Pharmacology : $148,400 - $190,300
