Scientist / Senior Scientist, Robotics & Automation

Integrated Biosciences, Inc.Redwood City, CA
$120,000 - $185,000Hybrid

About The Position

Integrated Bio is seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist to build the robotic layer of their closed-loop discovery engine. This role involves automating high-throughput experimental workflows and building embodied data-capture systems for physical AI training data. The successful candidate will be the first dedicated robotics hire, working directly with founders and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include end-to-end hardware ownership, integrating and programming robotic components, and ensuring robots perform scientific work in a wet lab environment. The goal is to enable robots to interact with living systems and train models that advance human aging research.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in robotics, mechanical/electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience integrating and programming real robotic hardware (manipulator arms, end effectors, and sensors) as well as simulation (e.g. Real2Sim)
  • Strong software skills in Python and C++, with production experience in ROS2
  • Comfort with wiring, mounting, debugging, and making physical systems reliable in a working lab
  • The ability to learn and adapt quickly as part of a small team, and willingness to work hard in service of moving the needle on human aging

Nice To Haves

  • Teleoperation and imitation-learning experience (e.g., YAM teleop) and dexterous-hand integration
  • Simulation experience with MuJoCo or NVIDIA Isaac, including URDF/MJCF asset creation
  • Laboratory automation experience (liquid handlers, plate hotels, scheduling software) or prior work in a biology lab
  • Experience with egocentric or multi-camera video data pipelines for robot learning
  • Interest in the business of biotech, especially therapeutics and drug discovery

Responsibilities

  • Design, integrate, and program robotic manipulation systems (arms, dexterous hands, grippers, sensors) for laboratory tasks
  • Build and operate teleoperation and demonstration-capture rigs, including egocentric video and tactile data pipelines for embodied AI training
  • Automate high-throughput experimental workflows: plate handling, sample logistics, and instrument integration, in partnership with our sequencing and HTS team
  • Develop and maintain the software stack for our robotic systems (ROS2, Python/C++), including simulation assets and digital twins of lab workflows
  • Define data formats, QC, and metadata standards with the AI team so every captured episode improves our models
  • Own uptime, safety, and documentation for all robotic and automation equipment

Benefits

  • Full health insurance coverage for you and a dependent
  • 401(k) plans
  • Free lunch
  • Vacation and sick days
  • Other longevity-related benefits
  • Substantial equity
  • Performance bonus
