About The Position

As a Research Scientist – Power Systems, you will propose, contribute to, and lead research and development projects focused on power systems and related fields. You will work with global teams and external partners, including universities, startups, and vendors, to address real-world customer challenges and develop concepts for future generations of power systems. The role involves advancing knowledge and technology through research activities, technical problem solving, collaboration, programming, simulation, and the publication of results through technical reports, scientific publications, and patent applications. By developing and evaluating new power system concepts and technologies, you will support ongoing innovation and the reliable operation of power systems.

Requirements

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems.
  • Experience with monitoring and control technologies such as SCADA, EMS, or substation automation; implementing and evaluating early-stage control concepts; power system simulation platforms; transmission or distribution control room operations; techno-economic optimization; microservice architecture and utility communication protocols; Energy Market operations; or microgrids and active distribution systems.
  • Experience in power systems research and development.
  • Deep understanding of power system dynamics and associated control mechanisms.
  • Fluency in common programming languages such as Python or C++.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

  • Demonstrate safety and integrity while taking responsibility for your work and supporting colleagues.
  • Support research activities related to power systems and associated technologies.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
