About The Position

At Bayer, we are seeking an innovative and agile individual to participate in research and drug discovery programs in the oncology pipeline. This role will contribute to our scientific leadership in Oncology, aiming to transform the lives of patients with cancer. We are a rapidly growing biopharmaceutical company with an active research and discovery pipeline, and we are looking for someone with excitement for drug discovery in cancer biology, as well as a passion for professional development and peer coaching.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Sciences
  • Demonstrated ability to design and perform experiments, assays, methods development, validation, scale up or operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot problems requiring original thought.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in field of expertise (i.e., unit operation, of literature, new developments, technologies, and regulations).
  • Ability to apply scientific principles to the design and interpretation of scientific experiments.
  • Ability to exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Ability to solve routine to complex operation and scientific problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning.
  • Ability to prepare reports and interpret the results of complex experiments and present own work.
  • Previous experience participating in a project team.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite of Software (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to learn and apply business tools and systems such as SAP.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present own work to a group.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors/Master of Sciences with at least 2-4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Independently plan and perform experiments, generate and analyze data, and present results and next steps to support the development of drug discovery programs in the Oncology pipeline.
  • Troubleshoot experiments, assays, or procedures, overcome obstacles, and develop alternative experimental approaches.
  • Recommend new and innovative solutions to problems utilizing knowledge of unit operations, scientific creativity, independent thought, and proficiency.
  • Collaborate with other scientists in RED ONC and R&D functions, and support cross-team and cross-site activities to progress drug development programs in Oncology.
  • Interpret and effectively communicate scientific findings in one-on-one discussions and/or departmental meetings.
  • Take initiative in keeping current with the field of specialty and contribute to scientific literature.
  • Ensure that laboratory notebooks are consistently updated, audited, and well maintained.
