About The Position

L3Harris Space Superiority group has an opening for a Senior Integration & Test Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Wilmington, MA. The individual will work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and a collaborative team setting. The Level 6 Test Architect is a senior technical leader and recognized subject matter expert responsible for defining and advancing the test architecture, verification strategy, and integration and test execution approach for complex electro-optical/infrared space systems. This role provides enterprise-level technical leadership across multiple programs, captures, and technology initiatives, shaping test strategies that ensure mission success, technical rigor, affordability, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. The Test Architect establishes the overall direction for test methodologies, validation frameworks, readiness criteria, anomaly resolution strategies, and technical governance. This individual works across engineering, program management, quality, production, supply chain, subcontractors, and customers to solve highly complex technical challenges, influence strategic decisions, and develop innovative solutions with broad organizational impact. The ideal candidate is recognized internally and externally as a thought leader with deep expertise in system integration, Assembly, Integration and Test (AI&T), verification and validation, mission payload test strategy, and EO/IR space system performance. This role requires strong technical judgment, executive-level communication, and the ability to influence business and engineering outcomes across the full program lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Candidate must be eligible to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Holds an active Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience with space systems engineering, including knowledge of space environments, satellite systems, and space mission design. Familiarity with NASA-STD-1540 and/or NASA-STD-7002.
  • Experience in leading technical teams, managing projects and competing priorities, and coordinating cross-functional engineering activities.
  • Proficient in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and traditional systems engineering tools such as DOORs, CAMEO, CREO, JIRA, and SysML.
  • Recognized as an internal expert and thought leader in area of expertise with broad experience across multiple job areas. Proficiency in optical and electro-optical testing techniques and equipment including experience with optical design, sensors, detectors, and imaging systems. Strong understanding of system integration processes and best practices. Familiarity with space environment considerations and testing protocols.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and other relevant engineering and simulation software tools, such as MATLAB. Experience with optical design, modeling, or analysis tools such as Zemax, Code V, or similar tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical information to diverse audiences. Experience supporting proposals, captures, and customer technical engagements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of tackling complex engineering challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain the overall test architecture, verification and validation strategy, and integration approach for advanced EO/IR space systems across development, qualification, acceptance, and delivery support phases.
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for test strategy, test methodology, and system verification across multiple programs, pursuits, and technology developments.
  • Establish and drive innovative test concepts, architectures, and methodologies for complex or first-of-kind systems, ensuring alignment to mission requirements, technical performance, affordability, producibility, and mission assurance objectives.
  • Lead development of end-to-end Assembly, Integration and Test strategies for mission payloads and related subsystems, including integration flow, test readiness, risk-reduction planning, and performance validation.
  • Guide multidisciplinary engineering teams in the decomposition of system requirements into verification approaches, test methods, success criteria, and compliance evidence.
  • Define and govern test philosophies, readiness criteria, documentation standards, anomaly response frameworks, and technical review expectations across programs.
  • Lead the resolution of the most complex technical test and integration issues, anomalies, and nonconformances, including assessment of root cause, corrective actions, and near- and long-term mission impacts.
  • Direct complex trade studies to evaluate technical, operational, schedule, cost, reliability, producibility, and risk impacts of alternative test and integration solutions.
  • Influence system architecture, requirements allocation, and design decisions to improve testability, integration efficiency, verification completeness, and mission confidence.
  • Provide strategic oversight and technical direction for subcontractor and supplier test planning, execution, risk posture, and performance as applicable to system integration and mission success.
  • Partner with program leadership to develop executable technical plans, test roadmaps, staffing approaches, infrastructure strategies, and risk management plans that support program and business objectives.
  • Communicate complex technical issues, recommendations, and strategic options to executive leadership, customers, subcontractors, and U.S. Government stakeholders.
  • Establish and implement new processes, standards, tools, and best practices that improve integration and test performance, consistency, scalability, and organizational capability.
  • Support business development, capture, and proposal activities by defining technical discriminators, basis of estimate inputs, test concepts, risk-reduction strategies, and execution approaches.
  • Mentor engineers and technical leaders across the organization, strengthening test engineering capability, succession depth, and technical excellence.
  • Contribute to long-range technical strategy, capability investment planning, and roadmap development for integration and test engineering within the business area.
