About The Position

This powerhouse organization offers an extensive range of services aimed at revolutionizing the built environment and preserving the natural one. Its diverse expertise encompasses environmental remediation, urban planning, engineering iconic coastal and marine structures, developing sustainable energy sources, and pioneering resource extraction methods. The Scientist II position will include a combination of office-based tasks and field activities and daily interactions with a multidisciplinary team of scientists/engineers. Responsibilities include management/execution of environmental permitting activities with a heavy emphasis on proposal preparation, project planning, supervising field studies, data review, and report writing.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Ecology, or a related natural resources field.
  • Five to ten years of experience on Guam.
  • An understanding of natural resources and environmental resource permitting within the Marianas region and/or coastal settings.
  • Able to work in both the office and field.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to learn quickly are vital.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to satisfactorily pass pre-employment and post-employment drug and alcohol tests.
  • Ability to satisfactorily pass post-employment physical.
  • Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs. on occasion.

Nice To Haves

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey information at an appropriate level of communication with varying levels of project staff.
  • Attention to detail in following safety plans, work plans, collecting data, and preparing reports.
  • Ability to acquire access on military installations and have a valid driver license.

Responsibilities

  • Flora and Fauna Surveys
  • Surveys for protected animals and plants (federal and territorial) using methods accepted by USFWS and DAWR
  • Wetland delineations in tropical freshwater and estuarine environments
  • Interpretation of natural resources data and application of the data to manage the surveyed species
  • Natural resource field studies
  • NEPA support
