Thermo Fisher Scientific•Florence, SC
•Onsite

About The Position

The Scientist II conducts laboratory work to ensure products are tested according to operating procedures and that work is performed efficiently and safely. The role uses judgment to adapt and modify assignments and provides routine and non-routine analytical chemistry testing following standard practices. Testing covers raw materials, samples, stability, production intermediates, and active pharmaceutical ingredients, including method development and qualification. The position supports internal development and manufacturing operations and requires detailed observation, review, documentation, and communication of results to internal teams and external clients. The role is based in Florence, South Carolina, with a standard Monday–Friday schedule of 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.; flexibility is required. Work takes place in a laboratory and cleanroom environment and requires adherence to GMP, OSHA, safety, BOP, and SOP requirements. The position includes operating and calibrating laboratory instruments, independently conducting experiments, reviewing data, investigating unexpected or out-of-specification results, preparing technical and regulatory documents, and training employees on analytical techniques. The role requires a chemistry or related bachelor's degree. Five or more years of laboratory and analytical-instrument experience are preferred, particularly in GLP or GMP/cGMP environments. The position involves physical activity such as standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crouching, as well as lifting and carrying items. PPE is required, and cleanroom restrictions apply.
