About The Position

The Scientist I works at Sonic Reference Laboratory (SRL), the national reference laboratory for Sonic Healthcare USA. The role performs routine and difficult patient-sample extractions and routine analysis using LC-MS/MS or HPLC analytical techniques, accurately and efficiently in accordance with SRL procedures. The position is based in Austin, Texas, and is full-time and benefits eligible, with a 1st-shift schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and/or master’s degree in a scientific field.
At least 1 year of extraction experience.
At least 1 year of LC-MS/MS experience.
Ability to understand written and verbal instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, the supervisor, and the manager.
Excellent attention to detail.
Basic computer knowledge.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and fluctuations in workload.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to perform basic and intermediate calculations as needed.
Ability to follow and implement policies and standard operating procedures.

Nice To Haves

At least 1 year of laboratory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare non-critical solutions, including mobile phases and buffers.
Perform automated and routine liquid-liquid, supported liquid, and SPE extractions, or dilute-and-shoot extractions.
Work independently to plan and conduct laboratory work.
Document procedural processes promptly and clearly.
Perform basic maintenance and setup of LC-MS/MS or HPLC instruments.
Monitor assays on LC-MS/MS or HPLC instruments.
Apply basic troubleshooting skills to instrumentation independently.
Help maintain the laboratory by cleaning glassware, removing biohazard bins, and maintaining small equipment.
Assist with filing paperwork associated with daily production runs.
Assist with maintaining laboratory inventory.
