About The Position

We are seeking a motivated new PhD or experienced BS/MS scientist to be an integral member of the Cambridge, MA Chemistry group as a Scientist I or II – Peptide Chemistry , responsible for using our powerful mRNA display peptide discovery platform to identify and engineer novel ligands of target proteins that are implicated in human diseases with unmet medical needs. The lab-based position will be part of our peptide chemistry group. The scientist will work closely with medicinal chemistry and DNA encoded library groups to develop new synthesis and screening technologies on and off beads. The successful candidate will be a skilled experimentalist with deep knowledge of peptide chemistry and synthesis.

Requirements

  • Proficient in peptide chemistry design, synthesis, purification, characterization, bioconjugation technologies
  • Deep knowledge and experiences in solid phase peptide synthesis
  • Experience with chromatography and mass spectrometry data analysis, method development, and applications
  • Scientist I = PhD with 0 to 2 years of post-doc industry experience or an MS with 6+ years or a BS with 8+ years of industry experience
  • Scientist II = PhD with 2+ years of post-doc industry experience or an MS or BS with 10+ years of industry experience

Responsibilities

  • Synthesize polypeptides with automated peptide synthesizers or manually.
  • Workup, purify and deliver those peptides for biological assays.
  • Design drug-like peptide molecules utilizing medicinal chemistry knowledge, including property-based optimization, and an understanding of ADME, pharmacokinetics and optimal physicochemical properties.
  • Design and synthesize peptide conjugates with other therapeutic agents.
  • Develop and implement new methods to advance our peptide drug discovery efforts.
  • Ensure optimal interaction, communication and provide regular updates on project status to the program leads and leadership team.
  • Participate in new target identification and validation
  • Triage screening hits, and carry out hit to lead
  • Learn to independently lead programs with the goal of delivering of drug candidates
