Scientist I, High-Throughput Biology

Eikon Therapeutics•Millbrae, CA
•$123,000 - $149,100

About The Position

Eikon Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company applying chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover treatments for life-threatening diseases. Its discovery platform uses microscopes that enable real-time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells. As a member of the High-Throughput Biology Team, the Scientist will help develop drug discovery screening assays using Eikon’s proprietary live-cell, single-molecule high-throughput super-resolution microscopy platform. The role combines biology, automation engineering, and computational science to produce scalable, reproducible, decision-enabling biological data for drug discovery portfolios. The successful candidate will develop, optimize, validate, and scale live-cell imaging assays; analyze large datasets in collaboration with computational biologists and software engineers; and communicate actionable results to project teams. The role also involves transferring optimized processes into operational workflows, maintaining comprehensive electronic records, collaborating across disciplines, and contributing to the training of junior scientists.

Requirements

  • Ph.D.; or a Master’s degree plus 10 years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of relevant experience in Biology, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in mammalian cell culture using sterile technique.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment relevant to molecular and cellular biological research.
  • Demonstrated experience systematically optimizing and validating biological assays.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with novel assay technologies.
  • Working experience in quantitative fluorescence microscopy and/or super-resolution microscopy.
  • Working experience with quantitative and/or statistical analysis using common software tools such as Microsoft Suite or GraphPad Prism.
  • Working experience with one or more high-level programming languages, such as Python, MATLAB, or R, for large-dataset analysis and visualization.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey scientific concepts effectively.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proactive and adaptable approach to changing research priorities and challenges.
