About The Position

MaxCyte's SeQure platform applies state-of-the-art genomics technologies for CRISPR gene editing target profiling to advance discovery, clinical development, and diagnostic solutions. Our technologies provide the foundation needed to ensure that gene editing therapies are both safe and effective. This is an exciting opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team operating at the forefront of gene editing innovation and genomic safety assessment. We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist to support both research and development activities and laboratory operations within the Gene Editing Sciences team. The successful candidate will contribute to the development, validation, and execution of genomic safety assessment assays while ensuring efficient laboratory operations and high-quality data generation in a regulated environment. This individual will play a key role in evaluating emerging genome engineering technologies, implementing new workflows, supporting client studies, and driving continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, genomics, or related field with 0-2 years of relevant research experience. B.S./M.S plus 4-6 years of relevant research experience
  • Experience in genomics techniques including next generation sequencing, chromosomal rearrangement detection, and gene editing off-target methodology
  • Proficiency in molecular skills, including primer design, PCR, qPCR, ddPCR, and nucleic acid purification
  • Proficiency with primary human cell culture and cell-based in vitro study design and optimization including cell sorting, imaging, and fluorescence-based readout

Responsibilities

  • Execute genomic safety assessment strategies for gene editing therapeutics, including off-target discovery, confirmation, genome integrity characterization, and assessment of editing outcomes.
  • Lead the development, optimization, validation, transfer, and implementation of genomic safety assessment assays and technologies.
  • Analyze, interpret, and present scientific data to internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with advances in gene editing, genomics, sequencing technologies, and regulatory expectations.
  • Maintain mammalian cell culture, and perform and optimize CRISPR-based cell editing using various approaches.
  • Execute complex molecular biology and NGS workflows including sample preparation, PCR, library preparation, sequencing, and quality control.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and qualify laboratory instrumentation, including automated liquid handlers, NGS sequencers, and associated molecular biology equipment.
  • Manage multiple studies and priorities while ensuring high standards of data quality, documentation, and timely project execution.
  • Serve as a technical expert for laboratory operations, assay execution, and scientific problem-solving.
  • Author and maintain SOPs, protocols, training materials, validation documents, and investigation records.
  • Support quality events, deviations, nonconformances, and CAPA activities through root cause analysis and effective resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement through workflow optimization, automation, inventory management, and laboratory scalability initiatives.
  • Train and mentor junior scientists and contribute to building operational capabilities that support organizational growth.
