About The Position

We are seeking a talented and motivated Scientist to join the Inflammation biology group at Gilead Sciences. In this role, you will drive the discovery and development of transformative therapies aimed at restoring tissue function in patients suffering from metabolic and inflammatory diseases. You will combine hands-on experimentation with scientific leadership to advance programs from concept through clinical development. The successful candidate will have a proven scientific track record, a passion for rigorous experimentation, and a strong desire to grow scientifically in a resource-rich environment. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in immunology, metabolism, or cell biology with 0-3 years of postdoctoral or industry experience
  • Deep expertise in at least one of the following fields: Immunology and inflammation, tissue regeneration , or metabolic disease biology
  • Track-record of peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals, with a particular focus on tissue regeneration / mechanisms that control tissue repair, metabolism, or myeloid cell biology in tissue dysfunction and disease
  • Proficiency with primary cell culture systems, ex vivo tissue models, and/or relevant in vivo disease models
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of rigorous and reproducible science
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in ex vivo organoid models of lung and liver
  • Expertise bridging immunology and tissue regeneration / metabolic diseases
  • Deep expertise in myeloid biology, including their roles in metabolic and inflammatory diseases

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments to identify and validate novel targets and mechanisms underlying tissue dysfunction in metabolic and inflammatory diseases
  • Lead and contribute to drug discovery projects, translating biological insights into testable hypotheses and actionable strategies
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to advance programs
  • Synthesize and present scientific findings to internal stakeholders and contribute to external publications and presentations
  • Mentor and provide scientific guidance to team members and research partners
