About The Position

Avid Bioservices is a leading clinical and commercial biologics CDMO dedicated to developing and manufacturing life-saving biopharmaceuticals. The Scientist, Analytical Support will collaborate with colleagues in Analytical Development, Process Development, and Quality Control to plan and execute product quality testing of biologics. This role involves planning and executing analytical testing to support cell line, process, and formulation development, demonstrating technical leadership in the laboratory, overseeing and delegating experimental responsibilities, and writing/reviewing development summary reports. The scientist will apply principles of Analytical Chemistry to biologics development, advise Research Associates, present work results, and maintain a full working knowledge of relevant principles and theories.

Requirements

  • B.S./M.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or related disciplines
  • 5+ years of industrial experience is required
  • Demonstrated ability in competent execution and recording of scientific experiments
  • Proficiency with one or more of the following techniques: HPLC, spectrophotometry, SDS-PAGE or capillary electrophoresis, IEF, ELISA, biological mass spectrophotometry, and/or Biacore
  • A "bring it on!" team player approach and an unshakable positive attitude
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional multitasking skills and an unparalleled attention to detail
  • Master at building relationships, capable of establishing connections with anyone, be it team members, clients, vendors, or suppliers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in characterization of glycoproteins-specifically mAbs preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues in Analytical Development, Process Development and Quality Control to plan and execute product quality testing of biologics
  • Plan and execute analytical testing to support cell line, process and formulation development
  • Demonstrate hands-on technical leadership in the laboratory
  • Oversee and delegate experimental/project responsibilities as needed
  • Write/review development summary reports
  • Apply the principles and techniques of Analytical Chemistry to biologics development
  • Advise Research Associates or members of project teams in the initiation and execution of laboratory experimentation, considering economic, regulatory and safety factors
  • Present results of work, interpret data, and draw conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work
  • Maintain full working knowledge of principles and theories, applying such knowledge to the direction that supports Company and clients' interests
  • Demonstrate emerging ability in developing methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results and interpreting experimental outcomes
  • Perform other duties as assigned
