About The Position
This role supports the protein outsourcing process and contributes to protein purification and characterization strategies. The Scientist 2 will manage weekly protein outsourcing assignments, as well as receiving, sorting, and distribution of proteins. The position involves performing QC analysis on antibodies and proteins, applying a deep understanding of antibody and protein purification and characterization principles. Routine QC analyses include mass spectrometry, SEC-MALS, analytical HPLC, LAL, SDS-PAGE, and mass photometry. The role requires close daily interaction with scientists, necessitating excellent written and oral communication skills. The Scientist 2 will also explore and apply new techniques and technologies to solve antibody purification and characterization challenges and contribute to protein purification and characterization method development strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in the Biological Sciences with at least 3-4 years of scientific experience, OR Master’s degree in the Biological Sciences with at least 1 - 3 years of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with protein and antibody analytical methods includes SDS-PAGE, Analytical HPLC, Endotoxin detection, SEC-MALS, and mass spectrometry.
- Experience in protein and antibody purification and characterization includes using AKTA systems.
- Demonstrated track record of working independently in a collaborative team-oriented setting, aligning with group vision and mission.
- Ability to work accurately and with attention to detail, operate efficiently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with other scientific staff.
- Proficiency with standard computer applications and scientific software.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Mass Photometry is highly desired.
- A background in Mass Spectrometry is a plus.
- A dedicated team player willing to work within a core facility environment.
