About The Position

We are seeking a Scientist 2 to support in vivo research activities focused primarily on chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardio-renal-metabolic (CRM) research. The successful candidate will independently conduct routine studies, assist with non-routine and exploratory experiments, analyze and interpret data, and contribute to scientific documentation in a highly collaborative research environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with rodent models, dosing, health monitoring, sample collection, and IACUC-compliant research practices.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic scientific theory and principles applicable to hands-on in vivo research.
  • Direct experience working with rodent models of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience with routine rodent dosing routes, including: Intravenous (IV), Intraperitoneal (IP), Oral (PO), Subcutaneous (SC), Intramuscular (IM).
  • Experience with animal health monitoring and biological sample collection.
  • Knowledge of and experience working within IACUC governance and compliance requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot experiments effectively.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new techniques and technologies quickly.
  • Interest and ability to assist in incorporating new technologies into cardio-renal-metabolic research.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel and GraphPad Prism, with willingness to develop expertise in additional software as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team-oriented scientific environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity, ethical research practices, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and complete routine in vivo studies, primarily in the field of chronic kidney disease (CKD), independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Interpret experimental outcomes, propose appropriate follow-up studies, and effectively troubleshoot experimental challenges.
  • Assist in the design and execution of non-routine experiments using CKD and cardio-renal-metabolic (CRM) in vivo models.
  • Conduct exploratory experiments with minimal supervision and contribute to the development of new research approaches.
  • Comply with applicable regulations, including IACUC governance, and perform all work in a safe, ethical, and compliant manner.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and applicable policies.
  • Apply basic scientific principles to study design, data analysis, and interpretation.
  • Conduct literature searches and extract relevant information from published protocols and scientific literature.
  • Independently operate laboratory equipment and troubleshoot equipment-related issues effectively.
  • Communicate scientific findings clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Contribute to the preparation and revision of protocols and procedures.
  • Provide scientific input for reports and study documentation.
  • Ensure all data are reported, handled, and interpreted with a high level of integrity and scientific ethics.
  • Participate, as needed, in a weekend/holiday rotation to support business operations. Scheduling is flexible and will not require weekend coverage every week.
