About The Position
Carbon Direct is seeking contractors to assist with project reviews for carbon dioxide removal and reduction technologies. This role is suitable for advanced graduate students (Masters or PhD level) in climate science fields such as forestry, engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or ecology who are looking to gain work experience. A review typically involves creating a short report based on a set template, evaluating a project proposal against six quality criteria. The work is performed under the supervision of a Carbon Direct senior scientist and undergoes rigorous quality assurance and quality control. Compensation is based on a deliverable payment schedule, determined by the anticipated length and complexity of each review.
Requirements
- Advanced graduate student (Masters or PhD level) in climate science fields (e.g., forestry, engineering, chemistry, environmental science, ecology).
- Interest in gaining work experience in carbon project reviews.
Responsibilities
- Conduct project reviews for a wide range of carbon dioxide removal and reduction technologies.
- Prepare short reports following a set template.
- Examine project proposals in the context of six quality criteria.
- Work under the oversight of a Carbon Direct senior scientist.
- Submit work for rigorous QA/QC.
