About The Position

The Seattle Children’s Research Institute (SCRI) is a Seattle-based non-profit research organization committed to making transformative scientific advances that lead to the prevention, treatment and cures of infectious diseases impacting children and families around the world. We are a cross-disciplinary group using the latest technologies in an interdisciplinary effort to better understand how the body fights infections and diseases. That understanding is being applied against a wide range of infectious diseases, with a focus on the need for effective vaccines and therapeutics against tuberculosis, nontuberculous mycobacteria, SARS-CoV-2 and RSV. SCRI’s leadership in the global health community extends to international alliances and partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, universities, research institutes, governments, and public health organizations. We are recruiting a highly motivated project manager to work with the multidisciplinary Coler Lab Team in a highly collaborative, intersectoral environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences e.g. Biology, Medical Sciences, Molecular Biology or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years progressively responsible leadership in project and/or program management.
  • Advanced computer knowledge and experience including proficiency with MS Office and other software.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification or project management certificate
  • Familiar with legal agreements and intellectual property rights
  • A scientific background plus experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals, or global health
  • Three to eight years of experience as a project manager in global health research and development of biotherapeutics or vaccines and within large consortia
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in biology, microbiology or related science field
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to prioritize activities and skilled at getting teams to set and/or meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills including knowledge management, file management, and time management
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to elicit, without formal authority, cooperation from a wide variety of sources and stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization

Responsibilities

  • Work with PI, research staff, administrators and key stakeholders to develop project plans and revise them as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Develop project timelines and milestones using Gantt chart features
  • Track and effectively communicate project milestones, deliverables, risks, budget and day-to-day operational aspects of projects
  • Prepare and manage scientific progress reports and PowerPoint presentations
  • Liaise with project stakeholders and external collaborators on an ongoing basis
  • Coordinate transfer of materials between internal and external stakeholders
  • Hold regular status meetings with project teams to include preparing and distributing agendas, data documents, scientific figures and meeting minutes
  • Review project expenses, develop and track budgets, and provide support to finance department and scientific teams on budget management
  • Assist PI and work with Center Business Operations for submission of new grant and contract proposals
  • Work with SCRI legal team members and external partners to draft and execute CDA, MTA, CRADA, Service Agreements and/or other legal contracts central to a project
