About The Position

The Scientific Engineering Technical Manager leads the semiconductor workforce development effort at UTA. This role involves initiating educational programs, working on grant proposal writing, supervising instruction and teaching of undergraduate and graduate semiconductor chip fabrication courses, helping maintain fabrication equipment and tools, and ensuring the purchase of necessary supplies and chemicals. The position provides hands-on laboratory instruction at the Nanotechnology Research Center (NanoFab) “Clean Room” and is responsible for lectures, developing student projects and protocols, and delivering lab safety instruction modules in conjunction with the primary professor and NanoFab staff. The role also includes selecting, purchasing, and maintaining supplies and chemicals, as well as identifying, purchasing, operating, and maintaining clean room tools for the semiconductor chip fabrication courses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science in an engineering, technology, physics, chemistry or materials discipline (or related field) or minimum of five (5) years of experience in semiconductor chip fabrication.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters of Science in an engineering, technology, physics, chemistry or materials discipline (or related field) or minimum of seven (7) years of experience in semiconductor chip fabrication.
  • Semiconductor workforce training leadership experience.
  • Experience conducting training and process development in a technical environment.
  • Familiarity with operation and maintenance of a microfabrication facility.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor processing equipment and processes.
  • Hands-on experience in operating and maintaining semiconductor fabrication equipment.
