About The Position

Amiculum is seeking a Scientific Editorial Lead based in the USA to provide scientific leadership for a fast-growing global oncology publications account. The role combines scientific and strategic leadership with client relationship management, team leadership, and forward planning. The successful candidate will oversee the development, delivery, and scientific quality of publications materials, including abstracts, posters, and manuscripts, while supporting the account’s continued growth. The role works closely with the commercial account lead and teams across Amiculum to help meet account performance and financial goals and deliver high-quality work on time and within budget. Candidates must be based in one of the listed eligible states and have the right to work in the USA. Amiculum is an independent agency providing communications and consultancy services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and health technology companies worldwide.

Requirements

A strong academic background in life sciences.
Extensive medical communications experience, including significant experience leading publications accounts within a healthcare communications agency.
Proven scientific leadership, including the ability to challenge briefs, shape strategic scientific stories, review complex content, and maintain consistently high standards.
Confidence and credibility to act as a senior scientific partner for clients and medical experts and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations.
Experience leading, mentoring, and developing scientific teams through effective delegation, briefing, review, and constructive feedback.
Strong strategic and commercial awareness, including an understanding of scope, budgets, recoverability, and resource planning.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to build strong partnerships across scientific, commercial, and specialist teams.
Ability to anticipate challenges, prioritize effectively, and keep complex programs moving forward while maintaining high standards.
Must be based in the USA in one of the eligible states: Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, or Texas.
Must have the right to work in the USA.

Responsibilities

Provide scientific leadership for a fast-paced and growing global oncology publications account, overseeing the development, delivery, and scientific quality of materials through effective delegation, briefing, and review.
Challenge briefs proactively and provide scientific and strategic input to shape complex publications deliverables, including abstracts, posters, and manuscripts.
Champion high scientific standards across the account and review other writers’ work for scientific accuracy, clear story flow, and alignment with client and brand objectives.
Lead and inspire the scientific team through clear direction, day-to-day guidance, and timely, constructive feedback.
Act as the primary scientific point of contact for clients, build trusted senior-level relationships, and provide strategic recommendations informed by client objectives, brand strategy, and the oncology landscape.
Partner closely with the commercial account lead to support account performance, financial goals, resourcing, and forward planning.
Oversee effective use of resources, anticipate capacity needs, and help ensure high-quality delivery on time and within budget.
Build collaborative partnerships across Amiculum, bringing together relevant expertise and sharing best practices and learnings across teams.
