About The Position

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Commercialization Team! The Scientific Collaboration Manager will be dedicated to supporting our global distribution partners, ensuring they are fully enabled to succeed by serving as a scientific consultant for the distributors and our customers. This role is customer-service driven at its core—focused on bringing value through training, knowledge-sharing, and seamless access to other Zymo Research experts in R&D, Scientific Collaboration, Technical Support, and Automation when you cannot solve the customers problem alone. Success in this role comes from deeply understanding our customers’ needs (both end user and distributing partners) and delivering practical solutions: clear messaging, pricing support, sales training, marketing collateral, battle cards, joint travel, and ongoing relationship management. The goal is to embody Zymo Research’s principles of innovation, quality, and service by scientifically supporting our international customers and making our distributors more effective and successful. Requirements

  • Education & Industry Experience (one of the following): PhD in Life Sciences and 0-1+ years of industry experience MS in Life Sciences and 2+ years of industry experience BS in Life Sciences 3+ years industry experience
  • Technical depth: Hands-on experience with nucleic acid purification, PCR, NGS, or related molecular biology workflows.
  • Customer-facing chops: Proven ability to communicate with both technical and commercial audiences; strong training and enablement skills.
  • Travel: Willing/able to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally.
  • Core skills: Organized, clear communicator, service-oriented; comfortable driving cross-functional work with distributors and internal teams.
  • Deep scientific and technical understanding of molecular biology workflows.
  • Proven ability to deliver consultative technical training and sales enablement.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically while maintaining a customer-first mindset.
  • Adaptability to work across diverse markets and dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive Zymo’s channel presence beyond distributor sales teams by actively developing and managing relationships with procurement, purchasing, stockroom, and supply chain stakeholders across academic, government, clinical, and industrial institutions.
  • Establish Zymo as a preferred and trusted supplier by aligning product portfolios, pricing structures, and service models with institutional purchasing frameworks and contract vehicles.
  • Partner with distributor operations teams and end-customer procurement groups to secure stockroom placement, catalog inclusion, and automated replenishment programs, reducing friction and increasing pull-through demand.
  • Lead joint efforts with distributors to navigate vendor onboarding, supplier qualification, and compliance requirements, ensuring Zymo products are approved, visible, and easy to buy.
  • Identify and execute channel-specific growth levers (e.g., standing inventory, framework agreements) that accelerate adoption and defend share.
  • Act as the escalation point for channel friction (availability, pricing misalignment, service gaps), working cross-functionally with Operations, Finance, and Customer Service to resolve issues quickly.
  • Translate procurement and stockroom insights into actionable guidance for Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to optimize channel strategy and institutional penetration
  • Partner with distributor sales teams on customer visits, demos, and technical discussions to drive adoption and conversions.
  • Provide hands-on support for advanced technical inquiries, complex troubleshooting, and workflow optimization.
  • Assist in developing and executing account-specific growth strategies to expand product penetration in key markets.
  • Prospect and identify high-value opportunities across academic, government, biotech, and clinical markets; develop outreach strategies to establish credibility and open doors.
  • Act as a trusted scientific advisor by understanding customer workflows, challenges, and goals; positioning Zymo’s solutions to deliver measurable value.
  • Deliver effective training programs (virtual and in-person) for distributor sales, technical, and life science specialists.
  • Create and share marketing collateral, sales tools, and battle cards to support consistent, effective messaging and accelerate adoption.
  • Ensure timely and accurate communication of new product releases, application workflows, and technical updates.
  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with distributor technical, sales, and management teams.
  • Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and participate in joint business planning for strategic partners.
  • Monitor distributor sales performance, promotional efforts, and pipeline health to ensure targets are met and opportunities explored.
  • Support the Distributor Management Group in executing sales initiatives and campaigns.
  • Gather and share market intelligence, Voice of Customer (VOC), and competitive insights to inform Zymo Research’s commercial strategy.
  • Provide actionable feedback from distributor interactions to enhance product positioning, marketing strategies, and enablement resources.
  • Identify regional/channel coverage gaps and opportunities for new distribution channels or expanded market coverage.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Product Management, R&D, and Operations to align strategies and resources with distributor needs.
  • Represent Zymo Research at tradeshows, conferences, and distributor meetings to strengthen brand presence and technical credibility.
  • Ensure compliance with Zymo Research’s branding, pricing, and contractual standards.
  • Travel approximately 30–40% (domestic and international) to conduct trainings, joint visits, and market development activities.
  • Prepare detailed trip reports highlighting customer feedback, market trends, and actionable next steps.
