About The Position

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) at Ivy Tech Community College - Terre Haute Campus is seeking an on-campus science tutor with a strong background in Anatomy and Physiology (APHY). The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students in APHY coursework and be comfortable assisting with lab-related content, including basic microscope usage and identification of slides. The LRC is dedicated to empowering students by providing academic support that stimulates critical thinking and nurtures the development of academic independence.

Requirements

• Minimum of B in subject to tutor.
• Emotional maturity and stability.
• Patient, flexible, positive, consistent, dependable, and cooperative.
• Ability to take supervision and correction constructively.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting students in APHY coursework.
• Comfortable assisting with lab-related content, including basic microscope usage and identification of slides.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to students seeking assistance in various subjects within the assignment guidelines and boundaries of the LRC.
• Set a precedent of academic integrity, accountability, responsibility by modeling and demonstrating good student behavior as a tutor.
• Contributes to student learning, growth, and advancement.
• Develop and implement strategies that promote analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Refers students to appropriate support services when necessary.
• Collaborate with faculty and other LRC staff to identify areas for improvement and adapt tutoring strategies accordingly.
• Create educational materials, resources, and guides that supplement course content and aid in comprehension.
• Stay updated on curriculum changes and educational trends to ensure relevance of support materials at the direction of the Coordinator.
• Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions in TracCloud.
• Distribute and collect student feedback at the direction of the Coordinator.
• Other duties as assigned.
