About The Position

This position is for a Science Teacher at Prairieview, with terms of employment being 194 or 196 days, depending on experience within WCSD. The role requires a valid State of Iowa teaching license with a 5-12 All Sciences endorsement, physical science endorsement, or willingness to obtain the appropriate endorsement. Key performance criteria include utilizing organizational and communication skills, creating and maintaining healthy relationships with students and staff, and demonstrating competence with specific principles for grading and assessment such as differentiation, using multiple data points, accurately communicating academic achievement, meaningful independent practice, and providing multiple opportunities for students to show proficiency. The teacher should demonstrate flexibility, high motivation, and enthusiasm when working with middle and high school learners. An understanding and application of Professional Learning Community (PLC) principles and the Waukee Framework for Meeting the Needs of All Students are expected. Experience with various teaching methods including co-teaching, collaborating, whole/small group, and individualized instruction is necessary, along with a commitment to differentiating instruction and meeting the needs of diverse learners. The role also requires a commitment to ongoing professional growth and development, understanding and implementing the MTSS process, and utilizing developmentally appropriate assessments. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, as is maintaining accurate standards-based grades with measurable feedback. The candidate should have a record of recent professional learning, knowledge of current research, understanding of formative assessment, and evidence of using data to adapt to individual student needs. Participation in professional development is also required.

Requirements

  • Valid State of Iowa teaching license.
