About The Position

Empowerment Academy Charter School is hiring a Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026/2027 School Year and beyond. Certified Science Teachers are eligible for a $7,500 Critical Need Bonus. Empowerment Academy is a dynamic and successful charter school that truly supports its teachers and staff. Empowerment has 3 of its own campuses, and BelovED is our “sister school.” We serve a mix of students that are among the most diverse in America while enjoying the cultural vibrance of Jersey City, Hoboken and New York City. Requirements

• Hold a New Jersey Department of Education CE, CEAS or Standard Certificate in a K-12 Science.
• OR hold Elementary Certification with a Middle School Science (5-8) endorsement.
• Only certificated candidates should apply.

Nice To Haves

• Consideration may be given to a candidate with only a K-6 Certification at the 5th Grade Level.

Responsibilities

• Plan lessons and solve problems within professional learning communities (PLCs).
• Meet scholars’ diverse needs in partnership with an array of specialists.
• Utilize abundant planning periods during the school day.
• Implement a research-based curriculum and supporting curricular materials.
• Use high-quality formative assessments, aligned with the curriculum, to identify when students have not achieved mastery of a skill, concept, or knowledge item.
• Partner with full-time reading and math specialists who tutor students struggling to master an essential skill.
• Collaborate with counselors and social workers who help students struggling with non-academic problems.
