About The Position

Our site in Bedford, MA is seeking a Science & Engineering Co-op to join our team for the Spring 2027 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration. The role involves developing, leading, and implementing projects using CAD software to improve operational efficiency and deliver savings. It also includes improving process data maturity, applying statistical methods for deeper process understanding, supporting lean manufacturing processes, and applying manufacturing best practices to drive safety, quality, reliability, and predictability.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled student
  • Available to work 40 hours a week, M-F (8a-5p) beginning in January through June.
  • Must be familiar with the universities requirements to participate in a co-op program
  • Independent thinker as well as able to work on a team
  • Ability to do CAD designs using software such as SolidWorks or CATIA
  • Creative and committed
  • Practical and detail-oriented
  • Able to think creatively and solve complex problems using a solid technical background
  • Passionate about hands-on work with a desire to understand how things are made, how they work, and how they can be improved.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or related discipline, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and implement projects using CAD Software which improve operational efficiency and deliver savings which support corporate objectives, such as; on-time delivery, productivity, scrap reduction, etc.
  • Improve maturity of process data and apply statistical methods to develop a deeper understanding of our process with the goal of achieving higher yields and efficiency
  • Support the development of lean manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, standard work, problem solving, value stream mapping, training, and employee involvement
  • Apply manufacturing best practices to drive safety, quality, reliability and predictability into everything we do
  • Work with teams to identify problems, analyze information and develop and implement process solutions
  • Assist in directing and controlling processes in accordance with defined policies and procedures
