About The Position

The Science Communications and Reporting Manager leads communications planning, reporting, and stakeholder engagement for the Child Mind Institute's Science and Engineering (S&E) organization. This position identifies and promotes content opportunities that showcase scientific advances, publications, and key initiatives, while developing internal communications, dashboards, impact reports, and organizational updates that keep stakeholders informed and aligned. Working across research, operations, and communications teams, this position translates complex information into clear, actionable communications that advance visibility, understanding, and impact. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Project Management, this is a full-time exempt position. This position requires a minimum of 4 days in the office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communication, Journalism or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years professional experience in journalism or related field in which communications, content creation, writing, and/or social media engagement were primary responsibilities.
  • Highly experienced in science communications and writing; candidates with experience in the health industry will be prioritized.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information from multiple stakeholders and communicate complex organizational activities clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in writing/editing/content creation for print and digital with expertise in translating complex subjects for a general audience.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Chief Science Officer and S&E leadership to develop dashboards, impact reports, organizational updates, and other reporting materials that track progress, communicate organizational priorities, and highlight scientific, operational, and organizational impact for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage recurring internal communications that keep staff and stakeholders informed of research activities, operational updates, organizational priorities, project milestones, accomplishments, and upcoming initiatives.
  • Identify, prioritize, and manage content and reporting opportunities that showcase scientific advances, publications, organizational priorities, key initiatives, and measurable impact across internal and external channels.
  • Develop and execute communications strategies that increase visibility, understanding, and engagement with S&E activities, news, and impact among internal and external audiences.
  • Translate complex scientific, programmatic, and operational information into clear, accessible communications for diverse audiences.
  • Plan, develop, and coordinate content across childmind.org, social media, email newsletters, news releases, partner channels, reports, presentations, video scripts, and other communications materials, ensuring alignment with Child Mind Institute brand and editorial standards.
