About The Position

We are seeking a School Wellness Policy Coordinator to join our Child Nutrition Programs section at the Oregon Department of Education. This is a permanent position represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). This position follows a hybrid work model. Onsite presence will be required when business or operational needs are best supported in person, such as collaboration, training, or work that requires access to onsite resources. Employees approved to work remotely must have a reliable and secure internet connection and maintain a professional work environment that supports productivity. While working remotely, employees are expected to maintain the same level of performance, responsiveness, communication, and availability as they would in the office.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and four years experience coordinating or administering a program
  • Any combination of experience or education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the CDC Healthy Schools cooperative agreement efforts and manage the duties of the grant including procurement, contracts, budget, communications, data collection and evaluation, and statewide and local professional development and technical assistance.
  • Collect and review program data, analyze existing policies and develop policy guidelines and priorities, develop and revise administrative procedures that support existing regulations, and assist with coordination of project management.
  • Manage the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) School-Based Interventions to Promote Equity and Improve Health, Academic Achievement, and Well-Being of Students (CDC-RFA-DP-23-0002) grant.
  • Lead the core Oregon Healthy Schools (OHS) Team, the team involved with planning, implementation, data collection and evaluation efforts for the cooperative agreement.
  • Lead the OHS Advisory group; a committee comprised of school health partners who provide perspective, insight, and collaboration in developing strategies, activities and messaging on coordinated school health and represent components of the WSCC model.
  • Conduct and participate in meetings with the CDC Project Officer, Priority Local Education Agency (PLEA) Coordinator, Oregon Healthy School (OHS) Team members and OHS Advisory group.
  • Provide technical assistance, professional development, specialized tools and resources statewide and to local education agencies.
  • Work with evaluators, internal OHS Team and Advisory partners to identify opportunities to strengthen program collaboration.
  • Manage budget, contracts and payments to the PLEA, and evaluation contractor.
