About The Position

La Causa, Inc. Charter School is committed to providing high-quality, inclusive, and engaging instruction that supports the academic and social-emotional growth of all students. We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered School Substitute (K5–8) Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate instruction while maintaining a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment that supports student success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Wisconsin DPI teaching license in the applicable area or ability to obtain an emergency license within 30 days of hire. Candidate must apply for the license within two weeks of the date of hire.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with families and/or classroom experience required.
  • Ability to demonstrate cultural intelligence and work respectfully with individuals and families from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches.
  • Highly developed organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must successfully complete and pass all required TB and drug testing, physical examination, and background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual Spanish and English highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and implement a high-quality, comprehensive, and developmentally appropriate instructional program for students in the assigned grade level.
  • Support continuity of instruction.
  • Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment.
  • Ensure students remain engaged in meaningful learning activities in the absence of their regular classroom teacher.
  • For bilingual positions, provide instruction and support in both English and Spanish and utilize curriculum and assessments appropriate to the bilingual instructional setting.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of program curriculum in accordance with policies and procedures established by the agency, contractor, State, or other applicable entity.
  • Administer multi-level assessments and evaluations, as applicable to monolingual or bilingual instruction, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Follow all applicable legal, organizational, and contractual requirements, laws, policies, and educational standards.
  • Implement instructional activities appropriate to the assigned grade level and student needs.
  • Develop and submit lesson plans as directed.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment that promotes student learning and well-being.
  • Ensure student safety and respond appropriately to fire drills, emergency situations, and other safety procedures.
  • Establish and maintain positive communication and cooperation with students, families, colleagues, administrators, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate cultural responsiveness and respect when working with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Fulfill mandated reporter responsibilities for suspected child abuse in accordance with current laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Attend required meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.
  • Contribute as a collaborative and supportive team member.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
