Under delegated authority from the Coordinator of Funding and Private Placements, this position provides school social work and related follow-up services for pre-school and school-age children through the 8th grade within District 86. This role complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and additional duties may be assigned. The School Social Worker functions as a member of the Case Action Team or Pre-School Assessment Team, providing social developmental studies and adaptive behavior assessments. They participate in various staffings, including those for children evaluated, placed in special education programs, or entering programs for Behavioral Disorders. The role involves providing individual and/or group therapy, recommending intervention procedures, and consulting with school personnel and parents. Additionally, the School Social Worker acts as a liaison between schools and community agencies, public or private institutions, and homes. They investigate and report suspected child abuse cases, serve on a Crisis Intervention Team, and provide written reports on evaluations and services. The position requires developing IEPs, submitting bi-monthly activity reports, and attending staff development sessions and meetings. Other duties as assigned are also part of this role.
