School Social Worker
About The Position
Mt. Clemens Montessori Academy is seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Social Worker to join their team. This is a full-time position at a K-5 public charter school serving over 300 students, with an additional Montessori Preschool Program for 50 children aged 33 months to 5 years. The school, founded in 1970, has been recognized as a "School of Excellence" by the State of Michigan and is known for its high student achievement, strong family involvement, and belief in each child's potential. The School Social Worker will provide comprehensive social work services to students, families, and staff, collaborating with school personnel to identify and address social, emotional, and behavioral issues impacting student success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social work, a deep understanding of child development, and a passion for supporting students' social, emotional, and academic success.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited program
- Valid state licensure as a school social worker
- Temporary or full approval as a social worker
- Experience working with children and families in a school setting
- Knowledge of social, emotional, and behavioral issues that impact student success
- Ability to work collaboratively with school personnel, families, and community agencies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct services to students, such as counseling, crisis intervention, and group work
- Conduct assessments and develop intervention plans for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Collaborate with school personnel to develop and implement programs that promote a positive school climate and student success
- Consult with teachers, parents, and community agencies to address student needs and concerns
- Provide support and education to families on a variety of issues, including parenting skills, communication, and community resources
- Monitor and maintain accurate and timely records of services provided and student progress
- Participate in school-based teams and committees to address student needs and promote school-wide initiatives
- Stay current on best practices and trends in school social work and related fields
- Maintaining a safe and positive environment for all students
- Maintaining effective communication with students, parents, and school staff
- Regular and predictable attendance

- Be able to perform first aid/CPR if necessary
- Assist/lift students, as necessary
