The School Security Officer maintains the safety and security of property, facilities, and personnel. This role involves assigned to a school campus or districtwide patrol duties, with either a school-year or year-round schedule. Responsibilities include conducting vehicle and foot patrols of district campuses and other property to ensure the safety and security of students, visitors, staff, buildings, and property. The officer will respond to alarms and other calls for security assistance, and monitor district security systems, requesting appropriate responses from other security officers, district personnel, and/or public safety and police personnel as needed. The incumbent must meet pre-employment drug and alcohol testing requirements and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing, including reasonable suspicion. A pre-employment psychological assessment must also be completed. Security officers with proof of completion of the Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Certification will receive an additional $1.50 per hour.
