The School Security Officer maintains the safety and security of property, facilities, and personnel. This role is assigned to a school campus or districtwide patrol duties, with either a school-year or year-round schedule. The officer conducts vehicle and foot patrols of district campuses and other property to ensure the safety and security of students, visitors, staff, buildings, and property. Responsibilities include responding to alarms and other calls for security assistance, and monitoring district security systems to request appropriate responses from other security officers, district personnel, and/or public safety and police personnel as needed. Incumbents must meet pre-employment drug and alcohol testing requirements, are subject to random drug and alcohol testing (including reasonable suspicion), and must complete a pre-employment psychological assessment. Security officers with proof of completion of the Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Certification will receive an additional $1.50 per hour. The district reserves the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of this job at any time.
