The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a School Resource Officer in its Police Department. This role involves performing all duties of a Police Officer while specializing in activities as a School Resource Officer on a regular basis. The officer will act as an instructor for specialized, short-term programs at all schools and other locations, coordinating activities with the principal and staff. Key responsibilities include developing expertise in presenting legal subjects to students, encouraging discussions, attending parent/faculty meetings, and conferring with students, parents, and faculty on law enforcement or crime prevention matters. The officer will also become familiar with community agencies for youth and family assistance, make referrals, inform the principal of law enforcement interviews, and maintain minimal security at schools. Additional duties include maintaining detailed program records, appearing in school hearings, working on crime prevention initiatives, conducting security checks/surveys, performing general administrative tasks, participating in training, assisting other officers, and upholding professionalism and ethical conduct.
