The Academy of Charter Schools is seeking a dedicated, student-centered School Nurse to serve at our Main Campus and North Campus for the 2026/2027 school year. This role is ideal for an experienced nurse who is passionate about adolescent health, skilled in supporting staff and students with various needs, and committed to advancing overall student wellness through training and education. SUMMARY: Provides and oversees health services for the student community, including administering basic first aid and dispensing medications as authorized by healthcare providers and parents/guardians. Ensures safe, compliant delivery of care by completing and supervising nursing delegation in accordance with the Colorado Nurse Practice Act. Supports student well-being through clinical oversight, health monitoring, and coordination with staff and families. Perform other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Student Health Services: Provide direct nursing care to students, including first aid, illness assessment, and emergency response. Develop and implement individual Health Care Plans (HCPs). Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and district policy. Monitor and manage chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, seizures, severe allergies). Delegation & Staff Training: Delegate medical tasks to unlicensed school staff in accordance with Colorado law. Train and supervise staff on delegated tasks (medication administration, diabetes, seizures etc.) Maintain documentation of training, competency, and supervision. Ensure compliance with the Colorado Nurse Practice Act and district policies. Health Compliance & Records: Maintain accurate student health records in compliance with FERPA and HIPAA guidelines. Ensure compliance with state immunization requirements. Track and report communicable diseases and outbreaks. Participate in health screenings (vision, hearing, etc.) Submit annual reports to state and local boards. Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate with parents/guardians, healthcare providers, and school staff. Serve as a health resource for students, staff, and families. Participate in IEP and 504 meetings as needed. Communicate health concerns and updates appropriately. Review and access plan for safe care of student(s) during off-site activities and may include attending off-site events. Health Promotion & Education: Promote health and wellness through training, education and prevention programs. Support mental health awareness and referrals. Assist in developing school safety and emergency response plans. Work Environment: School-based setting with frequent student interaction. Collaboration with staff regarding student care. Travel between Main Campus and North Campus. Exposure to illness and medical emergencies. EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree in nursing. Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in nursing.
  • Prior experience in pediatric nursing and/or a school-based setting preferred
