About The Position
Cross Country Education is seeking a compassionate and adaptable Registered Nurse (RN) to provide essential health support across three elementary and middle school sites in Downey, CA. This role involves providing school-based nursing care, responding to student health needs, developing Individualized Healthcare Plans, administering medications, conducting health screenings, and maintaining health records. The RN will collaborate with families, educators, and healthcare providers to support student health, safety, and access to education.
Requirements
- Valid California Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Experience providing care to elementary and/or middle school students, including managing chronic conditions, medications, and urgent health needs, is preferred
- Strong critical-thinking, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt quickly and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced school environment
Responsibilities
- Provide school-based nursing care across three school campuses.
- Respond to student health needs, injuries, illnesses, and medical emergencies.
- Develop and manage Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs).
- Administer routine and emergency medications for students with chronic health conditions.
- Conduct health screenings.
- Maintain student health and immunization records.
- Support communicable disease prevention and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with families, educators, school leadership, and healthcare providers to support student health, safety, and access to education.
