School Psychologist Thacher Elementary (0.5) and Willett Elementary(0.5) Start date: Janaury 5, 2026 Qualifications : Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology or related degree Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in School Psychology/ Specialist's Degree in School Psychology National Certification in School Psychology preferred MA DESE licensure School Psychologist (ALL); MA Board License preferred Exceptions to the above qualifications shall be made as the Superintendent deems appropriate and acceptable. Job Purpose To conduct evaluations of students in the Special Education process; provide short-term counseling for students in crisis; and consult with all staff to facilitate delivery of education in a manner which is suited to children developmentally. Reports to: School Principal and Director of Special Education and Student Support Services or designee

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology or related degree
  • Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in School Psychology/ Specialist's Degree in School Psychology
  • MA DESE licensure School Psychologist (ALL)
  • Experience with Safety Care
  • Experience with students wwith social emotional and behavioral needs

Nice To Haves

  • National Certification in School Psychology preferred
  • MA Board License preferred
  • Spanish speaker preferred

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate cognitive, social and emotional functioning, and needs of students referred
  • Meet with parents as needed to obtain background information, and/or to suggest interventions to provide support for and carry-over of Special Education services at home
  • Meet with TEAM as required under Special Education/504 regulations and laws
  • Observe students in classroom environment to determine if referral for Special Education evaluation is appropriate and as a basis for consultation
  • Consults with General Education and Special Education staff about interventions and modifications to benefit students in the classroom
  • Provide crisis prevention and intervention services
  • Counsel students with social/emotional/behavioral needs
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and school counselor to identify student and school wide needs, and develop action plans to address those needs
  • Submit all reports, IEP’s and mandated paperwork within mandated timelines
  • Conduct parent and or staff development sessions
  • Maintain inventory of appropriate tests, materials and supplies
  • Conduct groups as needed to meet the social/emotional needs of students
  • Keeps current in the field of school psychology and attends conferences and meetings for professional development
  • Other duties as may be assigned
