About The Position

Arlington Public Schools is seeking a School Psychologist to join their team. This role involves conducting psychological and educational evaluations, participating in team meetings and IEP processes, and collaborating with various stakeholders to support student success. The position requires adherence to district procedures and active participation in building-based responsibilities and district-wide activities. The School Psychologist will be assigned to two schools during the 2026-2027 school year and will work under the guidance of the Special Education Coordinator and Building Administrator.

Requirements

  • Licensure or certification as a school psychologist (e.g., CAGS) in Massachusetts or equivalent (e.g., licensed clinical or educational psychologist)
  • Experience participating at Team Meetings
  • Strong knowledge of psychological and educational testing
  • Computer software competency, with particular focus on Special Education Database Software
  • Experience in developing and/or supporting building based student support programs
  • Strong report writing skills

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all necessary psychological testing.
  • Conduct educational testing for initial evaluations and reevaluations.
  • Complete assigned evaluations within mandated timelines.
  • Participate in team meetings to present and interpret psychological evaluation results.
  • Collaborate with the team in making recommendations.
  • Assist the team in understanding the impact of disability on learning.
  • Summarize key results for the Team Chair.
  • Provide information regarding accommodations and/or modifications.
  • Help identify educationally relevant and required services.
  • Adhere to entrance/exit criteria for programs and services.
  • Follow district Special Education procedures and protocols.
  • Attend and participate in district-wide special education department activities.
  • Attend and participate in district-wide professional development activities.
  • Participate in weekly SST/learning team meetings.
  • Participate in relevant consultation meetings.
  • Participate in monthly building-based special education department meetings.
  • Consult to principals, building-based staff, and specialized programs.
  • Attend building meetings in schools served.
  • Provide crisis intervention/support as needed.
  • Consult to general and special educators, related service staff, and parents regarding student support, management, and other needs.
  • Consult with parents, teachers/service providers, and outside agencies with regard to assessments.
  • Bring concerns and questions regarding students, parents, services, procedures, etc., to the team chair or principal in a timely manner.
  • Keep current caseloads and act in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • Provide central office with an updated service schedule on a monthly basis.
  • Perform other responsibilities as determined by the Superintendent and the Director of Special Education.
