About The Position

The Business Career Center is seeking a collaborative and student-focused professional to serve as the School of Accountancy (SOA) Career Manager. In this role, you will support undergraduate and graduate accounting students as they explore career opportunities, prepare for internships and full-time employment, and navigate the recruiting events, strengthen employer relationships, and develop programs that enhance student career success. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping students achieve their professional goals while fostering strong connections between the School of Accountancy and the accounting industry. This is a ¾-time (28 hours/week) non-exempt on-site position.

Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics or a related field and 2 years corporate experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Proficiency.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in collaborating across organizations to achieve objectives

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, economics or a related field.
  • 5 years (combined) of public accounting corporate accounting experience.
  • Comfortable using the latest office technology.

Responsibilities

  • Advise undergraduate and graduate accounting students on career exploration, internships, recruiting, and full-time employment opportunities.
  • Guide students through the BYU and alternative Master of Accountancy (MAcc) application and placement process.
  • Provide one-on-one and group career coaching to help students prepare for recruiting, networking, interviews, and professional development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with accounting firms, corporate employers, alumni, and alternative MAcc programs to expand career opportunities for students.
  • Develop new employer partnerships through outreach and collaboration with the School of Accountancy Career Director and Business Career Center team.
  • Coordinate employer-sponsored recruiting events, networking opportunities, information sessions, Meet the Firms, and other career programming.
  • Plan and lead networking trips (Net Treks), including logistics, student preparation, employer coordination, and follow-up.
  • Track student placement outcomes, maintain placement data, and support continuous improvement of career programs and recruiting processes.
  • Collaborate with faculty, employers, campus partners, and student employees to deliver high-quality career services that support student success.
