About The Position
The School Nurse AHN position is a full-time role within the Navicent Health Medical Center's School Nursing Program. This role involves providing direct care to students who are ill or injured, performing screenings and referrals, administering medications, and managing chronic illnesses. The nurse will also play a key role in promoting a healthy and safe school environment, acting as a liaison between the school, family, and physician. Responsibilities include auditing immunization records, documenting in the EMR, and educating staff and students on health-related issues. The position requires a valid LPN license and BLS certification, with no prior experience required. The nurse will complete online continuing education and attend meetings as requested, and perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
Requirements
- Valid, active license in the state in which teammate practices
- BLS certification
- Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing

Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to those ill or injured
- Screening and referral if needed for health care conditions
- Medication administration, chronic illness management
- Assist in promoting healthy, safe environment
- Act as liaison between school, family and physician
- Audit immunization records and student health forms
- Document in the EMR per school system
- Educate Staff on student on health related issues and treatments as needed
- Complete online continuing education and attend meetings as requested
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
