About The Position

Renaissance Academy is recruiting for a part-time school nurse for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position follows the 10-month school calendar. Candidates must hold a current, valid State of Pennsylvania LPN or RN license, and a current valid CPR certification. This candidate must be passionate about assisting with health services for all learners, be self-directed, be a critical thinker, and continually look for ways to improve processes, programs, and outcomes. Adheres to all applicable professional safety standards and practices in the nursing field, including requirements set forth in federal and state law, and Occupational Safety and Health regulations.

Requirements

  • Current, valid State of Pennsylvania LPN or RN license.
  • Current valid CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, symptoms, diagnoses, treatments, first aid, illnesses and injuries, nutrition, and related areas.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed for position.
  • Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Powerpoint, the Internet, Outlook, electronic mail).
  • Ability to problem solve job-related issues.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and students with special needs.
  • Ability to follow oral and written orders from supervisors, administrators, physicians, and to coordinate work with principal, teachers and others.
  • Ability to describe orally and in writing school health services provided, issues and concerns regarding school health.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
  • Current Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree from an Accredited School (BSN Strongly Preferred)
  • 2 Years of Experience in Pediatrics, Community Health or Other Relevant settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescription and non-prescription medications according to school policy and in compliance with 022 PA Code.
  • Provide first aid.
  • Chart all immunizations, physicals, vision and hearing results, postural screenings, and heights and weights.
  • Maintain logs and document the activities of the school health clinic.
  • Perform other related nursing duties in the school setting.
  • Assist in the maintenance of a comprehensive school health program.
  • Collect information about the health development status of students for compliance with state immunization regulations and Board of Education policies.
  • Conduct school programs of immunization, physical examinations, and sight and hearing testing.
  • Perform nursing assessment for students who are ill or injured; apply appropriate theory as basis for providing first aid, nursing care, intervention and referrals for those students.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with state and federal law, and Board of Education policies.
  • Report to parents, school district personnel, physicians, clinics, and others as needed to meet student health needs.
  • Convey appropriate medical information to school district staff or medical professionals to ensure a proper maintenance in the school setting.
  • Provide medical assessment to school district employees as requested.
  • Attend field trips with students as requested.
  • Provide health education to students as requested.
