About The Position

The School Nurse is responsible for the care and supervision of all medical services for the Edconic Pre-College program. This includes attending to the health needs of ill or injured campers and staff, administering medication, communicating with parents and counselors, organizing medical supplies and first-aid kits, and documenting all medical procedures in the Student Information System. This is a temporary live-in position designed to provide an immersive and supportive environment for students participating in the program.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of work experience in comparable positions.
Licenses as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of New York preferred.
Experience working with children or youth.
21 years of age or older.
Ability to maintain and administer all medications.
Ability to make decisions and take initiative under pressure.
Good communication skills.
Must be CPR Certified.
Must be available to work for the entire duration of the program.

Nice To Haves

Prior leadership experience.
Prior work in a university program, boarding school, or camp is particularly desirable.

Responsibilities

Assist in the organization of the health office.
Ensure First-Aid kits are supplied and maintained.
Maintain health forms.
Keep a daily log of office visits.
Administer over-the-counter drugs as necessary.
Manage illness and injury.
Communicate with parents and counselors regarding illness and injury.
Serve as a medical resource bridging basic medical knowledge and emergencies.
Provide First Aid for cuts, scrapes, bruises, bee stings, dehydration, and sunburn.
