About The Position
Provide dedicated, on-site nursing care and health monitoring for a student requiring tracheostomy and enteral feeding support. Ensure medical safety, implement the student’s health plan, and collaborate with school staff and family to maintain continuity of care during the school day.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Strong documentation, communication, and crisis-management skills.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet district onboarding requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated experience with tracheostomy care and enteral feeding management in pediatric or school settings preferred.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide direct 1:1 nursing care including tracheostomy suctioning, trach care, and management of feeding tube (G-tube/NG) procedures.
- Administer medications and tube feedings per physician orders and the student’s Individualized Health Plan.
- Monitor respiratory status, vital signs, and overall health; respond to medical emergencies and implement emergency protocols.
- Maintain accurate, confidential health records, daily logs, and incident reports.
- Train and consult with school staff and caregivers on health procedures, emergency response, and safe handling.
- Attend IEP and health plan meetings as required and communicate regularly with family and healthcare providers.
