About The Position

This person is responsible for the health and well-being of Carolina Day School’s students when the regularly employed school nurse(es) are not available or otherwise detained. A person in this position would be expected to work as needed and as available to support full-time nursing staff.

Requirements

• Current licensure to practice nursing in North Carolina.
• Minimum three years of experience as a professional registered nurse.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Proficient with Google platform
• Ability to make independent, evidence-based decisions
• Proven ability to work collaboratively with others
• Excellent communication and time management skills

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as the “first responder” for any injuries or health needs that arise, administering first aid and contacting parents or health professionals as the situation warrants.
• Use electronic health software to maintain student health information, record treatment notes, and track administered medication.
• Administer medication as ordered.
• Record any student injuries or illnesses.
• Communicate with teachers, staff, and parents regarding student health status.
