About The Position

Port View Preparatory is a nonpublic school serving students ages 5–22 in an ABA-focused educational setting. The school provides services to individuals diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities. The School Nurse (Registered Nurse) implements treatment plans for students’ medical needs, administers medication, assists with the prevention or treatment of physical needs and disease, and coordinates routine daily health assessments under the direction and supervision of Leadership Staff.

Responsibilities

Administer daily or as-needed medication and implement treatment plans for students’ medical needs.
Collect student medication from parents or guardians and ensure administration follows prescription details; communicate with families about refilling school medication supplies as needed.
Document and update medication administration records.
Conduct ongoing individualized student health assessments, prioritizing conditions or needs within the timeframes specified by school policies, procedures, or protocols.
Provide first aid and emergency aid to students and school staff.
Document student assessment findings, physical and psychosocial responses, and progress toward problem resolution.
Report students’ conditions to appropriate staff each school day.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about health findings and updates to individual student medical information.
Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA practices.
Provide care in a nonjudgmental, nondiscriminatory manner that is sensitive to student and family diversity and preserves autonomy, dignity, and rights.
Collaborate with the lead RN regarding procedures and student medical needs.
