About The Position
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, provides basic health care services to students in a school setting. Assists with student health needs, maintains health records, and promotes a healthy school environment. This role involves direct student interaction and support for the school's health services program.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant or similar program (e.g., CNA, MA) OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of basic health care procedures and terminology.
- Ability to administer basic first aid and emergency care.
- Skill in maintaining accurate and confidential records.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Basic computer proficiency for record-keeping.
- Ability to work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working in a school health setting.
- Experience with electronic health records.
- Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Administer basic first aid and emergency care to students as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Monitor students with chronic health conditions and report changes to the Registered Nurse.
- Assist with health screenings, such as vision and hearing tests.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
- Dispense medication to students according to physician's orders and school policy, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse.
- Clean and maintain the health office environment and supplies.
- Educate students and staff on basic health and hygiene practices.
- Assist with health-related classroom activities or presentations.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse or school administration.
