School Direct Care Worker - First Shift - Lambeth Campus
About The Position
At Maryhurst, our residential programs, community-based homes and our outpatient clinical programs all work to serve children in the greatest need. Our residential programs break the cycle of abuse using treatments that restore hope and successfully transition children to more permanent, community or family-based settings. Maryhurst's community and transitional living programs offer tools that prepare survivors of abuse and neglect for better, more hope-filled futures. And lastly, the team at Maryhurst Renewal partners with children, adults and families who are hurting to find the right combination of support, ultimately clearing barriers to success at home, at school, and in the community. Renewal provides one-on-one, group and family counseling in office, home or school-based settings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Able to work as a team member.
- Perform basic writing, communications, and computer skills.
- Function as a group leader and role model in relation to troubled youth.
- Respond appropriately to the emotional and physical needs of adolescents within a structured group setting.
- Daily activity involving push, pull, or lift of up to 40 pounds.
- Experience working with Youth.
- Must be at least 24 years of age.
- Must possess a valid state driver's license and be eligible to drive in accordance with the Maryhurst motor vehicle policy.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with the overall supervision and administration of the school program.
- Assisting the students with successful academic, social, and behavioral integration into the existing, standard school program.
- Assisting in the dorms each morning before the school day begins.
- Maintain certification in Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and utilize these skills as needed to assure the safety of an individual client and the safety of the milieu.
- Safe Crisis Management is physical and verbal techniques that are used when a client is escalated.
