About The Position

QSAC is a nonprofit organization based in New York City and Long Island that supports children and adults with autism, along with their families. The organization aims to help individuals achieve greater independence, realize their future potential, and contribute meaningfully to their communities through person-centered services. QSAC provides direct services in a supportive and individualized setting to help children and adults with autism improve their communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills. This specific role is for a School Custodian in the Bronx School, responsible for maintaining the safety and appearance of the physical school location.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years’ general maintenance and facility cleaning skills
  • Requires the ability to read, write and communicate effectively with others
  • Attendance and punctuality is essential
  • Commitment to company values and adherence to policies

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma/GED preferred
  • Drivers license highly preferred
  • Collaboration and flexibility is expected

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to building/maintenance/codes to ensure health, safety & welfare of facilities, individual and employees
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout facilities, completing assigned checklists that include daily, weekly, and monthly detail
  • Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and use responsibly
  • Demonstrate safety and care of equipment and supplies to protect from damage and theft
  • Complete projects including moving furniture, deliveries, painting, plastering, etc. in an efficient and timely manner
  • Responsibilities include, but limited to, cleaning bathrooms/kitchen, mopping, sweeping, and/or vacuuming floors, Hygienic cleaning, and garbage collection and removal
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills to determine best way to fix problems and communicate delays or emergency reassignments to supervisor
  • Respond promptly to program needs throughout facility
  • Identify problems in the facility and inform supervisor as soon as they are discovered
  • Work independently in the building, staying focused on assigned tasks and priorities
  • Prioritize work to complete time sensitive issues first
  • Report to work for snow removal as needed
  • Maintain family and individual confidentiality
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management
