About The Position

QSAC is a New York City and Long Island based nonprofit that supports children and adults with autism, together with their families, in achieving greater independence, realizing their future potential, and contributing to their communities in a meaningful way by offering person-centered services. QSAC pursues this mission through direct services that provide a supportive and individualized setting for children and adults with autism to improve their communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills. The School Custodian is responsible for upholding the safety and appearance of the physical school location in the Bronx, NY. This is a part time position.

Requirements

Must have 1-2 years’ general maintenance and facility cleaning skills
Requires the ability to read, write and communicate effectively with others
Attendance and punctuality is essential
Collaboration and flexibility is expected
Commitment to company values and adherence to policies

Nice To Haves

High school diploma/GED preferred
Drivers license highly preferred

Responsibilities

Adhere to building/maintenance/codes to ensure health, safety & welfare of facilities, individual and employees
Maintain cleanliness throughout facilities, completing assigned checklists that include daily, weekly, and monthly detail
Maintain adequate inventory of supplies and use responsibly
Demonstrate safety and care of equipment and supplies to protect from damage and theft
Complete projects including moving furniture, deliveries, painting, plastering, etc. in an efficient and timely manner.
Responsibilities include, but limited to, cleaning bathrooms/kitchen, mopping, sweeping, and/or vacuuming floors, Hygienic cleaning, and garbage collection and removal.
Utilize troubleshooting skills to determine best way to fix problems and communicate delays or emergency reassignments to supervisor
Respond promptly to program needs throughout facility
Identify problems in the facility and inform supervisor as soon as they are discovered
Work independently in the building, staying focused on assigned tasks and priorities
Prioritize work to complete time sensitive issues first
Report to work for snow removal as needed
Maintain family and individual confidentiality
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or senior management
